This very popular course start at Club Lanai, crosses the Auau (aka Maui) channel, and ends at Black Rock at the Kaanapali Beach Resort on the island of Maui. The water temperature is typically around 80 degrees F.

- take an antihistamine before starting (to help with jellyfish stings)
- plan for unpredictable currents
The course was first swum by Jim Caldwell in 1970. Since then hundreds of swimmers have made the crossing.
